Much has hitherto been written about the people in the Great Lakes region, all of which is important when seen from various perspectives. This book has made use of earlier recorded observations. However, no history of a people or their lifestyle and thought patterns is static, which means that there will always be room for further investigation at all levels. The text presented in this study seeks to be a further contribution to a fuller and more meaningful understanding of the cultural history of the Great Lakes region from the inside. The author's Karagwe grass-roots experience has opened up a rich cultural network, exposing aspects of regional history that cut across local boundaries.
