According to Task Force on Taxonomy of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) 1994, Pain is defined as an unpleasant sensory & emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage. Orofacial pain can be a specific and important diagnostic symptom of many diseases such as disease of the orofacial structures, generalized musculoskeletal diseases, rheumatic disease, peripheral or central nervous system diseases, psychological abnormality and pain cervical muscles or intracranial pathology in form of referred pain.
