Julian Turner was born in Cheadle Hulme, near Manchester. Crossing the Outskirts, published in 2002, was awarded a Poetry Book Society Recommendation and was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. He lives with his partner and daughter in northern England and works for Leeds Mind.
