Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Osu Castle, also known as Fort Christiansborg or simply the Castle, was the former seat of government in Ghana until the end of John Kufuor''s presidency. As of 7 January 2009 , the new seat of Government is located at the Golden Jubilee House. However, when the Government of President John Atta Mills of the NDC (the party of former President Jerry Rawlings) came back to power in January 2009, they decided to again use the Osu Castle as the seat of government. It was therefore in the Osu Castle that the Government of Ghana hosted President Barack Obama of the United States and his family for a breakfast meeting with key figures in Ghana. The Osu Castle is located in Osu, Accra on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean''s Gulf of Guinea. The fort dates back to the 16th century and has changed hands many times. The first substantial fort was built by the Danish in the 1660s, though rebuilding has occurred on many occasions since. It began to serve as the seat of government under British colonial rule and continued to perform that function until 6 January 2009 .
