Oswin Harvard Gibbs-Smith was Dean of Winchester in the third quarter of the 20th century. He was born on 15 November 1901 and educated at Westminster and Clare College, Cambridge. Ordained in 1925, after a short spell as an Assistant Master at Harrow he began his ecclesiastical career with a curacy at St Margaret s, Ilkley. Following this he was Vicar of John Keble Church, Mill Hill, Rector of Christchurch, St Marylebone, Archdeacon of London and a Canon Residentiary of St Paul s Cathedral before his elevation to the Deanery.
