Lieutenant Otto Carius (born May 27, 1922 in Zweibrücken, Rheinland-Pfalz in Southwest Germany) was a German Heer tank commander during World War II and is credited with destroying more than 150 tanks. He is also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
