WOSAD (Women of South Asian Descent) Collective first came together as students at UC Berkeley to compile writings by South Asian women. Dissatisfied with the lack of support of attempts to create social change within and outside of the South Asian community, WOSAD responded by presenting balanced viewpoints from the female perspective from broader South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Burma and Afghanistan.  The women of WOSAD: Sheela Bhatt, Preety Kalra, Aarti Kohli, Dharini Rasiah, Latika Malkani
