After years in the corporate world, S.C Karakaltsas published her first historical novel, inspired by true events on Ocean Island in 1948, called Climbing the Coconut Tree in February 2016. Soon after her short story, 'The Surprise' was shortlisted for the Lane Cove Literary Awards in October 2016. Writing is now her passion. Her book titled, "Out of Nowhere - A Collection of Short Stories," was published in May 2017. A second historical fiction novel called, ' A Perfect Stone,' is expected to be published in 2018. "Unpacking a box belonging to his late wife, an old man discovers her diary and a small stone which triggers an avalanche of secrets and memories of a forced trek across the mountains of Northern Greece during the Greek Civil War."
