S. J. Stewart lived in New Mexico for almost four years, and has spent a lot of time in Arizona as well. She loves the vastness and the beauty of the area, and wanted to create characters who might have lived there during one of the most exciting periods of our history. While she now lives in the Ozarks with her husband, Lanny, they often return to that special part of the country that was once a Western frontier.
