Or else it appears to be reduced to a marginal, challenged, defensive ego. The marginalized characters in this collection of stories of differing format and length are not members of the Parnassian outsiders who made up the stable of Colin Wilson's Outsider, those famous names everyone can recall and enumerate. On the contrary, the personages in these stories tend to be somewhat anonymous, or nearly so dwellers living in real, conjectural or dreamed spaces that are always possible in a certain way, given the proper conditions.
