The Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited , abbreviated as OCBC Bank, is a publicly listed financial services organisation with its head office in Singapore. It is one of the largest local banks in Singapore and serves many business and retail customers, mainly in the East Asian market.OCBC Bank was a result of an amalgamation of three overseas Chinese banks during the Great Depression in 1932: the Chinese Commercial Bank Limited (established 1912), the Ho Hong Bank Limited (established 1917) and the Oversea-Chinese Bank Limited (established 1919). The bank's name is often mistakenly thought to be incorrectly spelled, but is in fact a predominantly British usage of the word more commonly spelt as "overseas". At the time of its establishment, the bank helped customers with financial solutions for their immediate personal and business needs during the financial crisis, and it has since gone on to establish itself in the region.
