The author of this study has attempted a comprehensive review of the status and functionality of the institute of supervisory review in the general system of rules governing the administration of justice in civil proceedings in the Republic of Belarus. A comprehensive analysis of the range of problems identified in the study is given according to the state of the procedural legislation as of May 2016. However, persons interested in jurisprudence are well aware of the principles, order and rules of interpretation and evaluation of new normative regulations developed by this science, as well as a certain "relevance" of procedural norms even after their abolition. We hope that familiarity with the ideas presented in the work and scientific and analytical reasoning of the author will add to the arsenal of systemic research of the reader the necessary methodological aspect in the formation of an independent view of the essence and legal nature of the stage of supervisory proceedings in the context of the ongoing institutional reform of civil procedure forms of control over the legality and validity of court judgments.
