Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Dr. Francis S. Nicol is the fifth of five children born into the union of Lily and Edward Nicol. He attended the Prince of Wales School, then the Milton Margai Teachers College (University of Sierra Leone), and the University of Grenoble, France. After decades of teaching, coupling the acquisition of six university credentials from four tertiary institutions on three continents, Dr. Nicol wasone of nine elite school principals appointed to transform the most challenging underperforming public schools in Washington, DC. He served as school administrator and principal before joining Argosy University faculty, where he served as professor of practice, College of Education. A national award recipient of the Washington Post Vance Reed Educational Leadership Foundation, George Rogers Fellow, and a Smithsonian Institution National Faculty Fellow, Dr. Nicol participated in educational leadership exchanges to several countries. He has published and presented papers on various topics and public forums. Educational leadership and planning, curriculum, and instruction are among his primary interests. Additionally, he has traveled extensively to more than fifty countries on six continents.
