Both oxidative stress and low grade inflammation are involved in the pathogenesis of type II diabetes mellitus. Thus this study was designed to investigate the differences in serum levels of Superoxide dismutase as a potential marker of oxidative stress and interleukin-18 as inflammatory marker which play important roles in T2DM progression and development as compared with the control group, and investigating Matrixmetalloprotinase-9 which extracellular matrix degradation enzyme which also has important roles in the development of DM complications, and find-out their association with the blood glucose concentration.
