Antimicrobial residues in food adversely affect the public health and impede meat export. Determination of oxytetracycline residue in poultry tissues were conducted to compare with recommended international MRLs using HPLC assay, and, hence, it was confirmed widespread use of oxytetracycline beyond MRLs. Therefore, it could be emphasized strict regulation and monitoring system on use of antimicrobial drugs in food animals and also spot-checks enable to know its potential animal and public health importance in order to take the appropriate actions. Finally, this book has a particular interest to poultry industry, regulatory body, researchers, teaching institutions, health professionals, and policy makers towards the need of prevention and control of drug residue in food animals for the sake of animal as well as public health protection.

Hailu Mamo Hailu is a graduate of DVM, MVPH & Pharmacy from Kharkov and Addis Ababa University.He has been working in different positions in Toxicology at FMHACA of Ethiopia.Currently, he is a researcher at INDRD of EHNRI and also an Assistance Professor at school of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Faculty of AAU, Ethiopia.
