This book deals with evaluation of a soybean bacterial endophyte Paenibacillus polymyxa HKA-15 for the control of bacterial common blight disease in beans. Bacterial Common blight of bean caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. phaseoli is a disease which is hard to control since there is an increasing resistance of this pathogen to chemical control. An antibacterial metabolite isolated from P. polymyxa HKA-15 showed strong inhibition against X. campestris pv. phaseoli. The crude extract of P. polymyxa HKA-15 showed a broad spectrum of activity against bacterial and fungal pathogens. In vivo experiments in Soybean and French bean revealed the biocontrol potential of Paenibacillus polymyxa HKA-15 against Xanthomonas campestris pv. phaseoli. This book serves researchers, students and those who are interested in biological management of plant diseases.
