Originally a musician, this is my first novel in the series 'The Book of the Nagardin.' The journey to publication has been an odyssey in itself, for having been fortunate enough to have travelled, climbed and mountaineered in many parts of the world, I've also succeeded in exhausting my quota of lives at an alarming rate. The last accident did manage to kill me, albeit briefly, so it's a privilege to still be here. Pagan Heart is the result of the years spent navigating the impact of trauma and learning how to work with the effects of a brain injury. Thankfully, I was still able to write, and can only hope you'll enjoy the results enough to become part of the journey. I live with my long-suffering wife and a final straggler from a gaggle of three beautiful daughters, and Mya, faithful hound and constant companion. All have been part of an itinerant lifestyle, for we are yet to find a place to call home - but it's the dramatic peaks, hidden glens and tangled forests of the Scottish Highlands, alongside a childhood raised in Africa and the Orient, that inspire much of what I write.
