Dr. Mechergui has over thirty-five years of experience as a therapist, educator, and administrator. She worked in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia, Recife, Brazil, Detroit, Michigan, Seattle, Washington, Palm Harbor, Florida, Tampa, Florida, Sarasota, Florida, Honolulu, Hawaii, Maui, Hawaii, Kona and Hilo, Hawaii, Lanai, Hawaii, and Lihue, Kauai. Dr. Mechergui has a desire to strengthen, teach, encourage, validate, and exhort individuals and families to follow their life goals. She addresses issues relating to teaching, cognitive skills, thinking skills, emotional stability and insight, practical experience always with humor. Her seminars and teaching for students, parents, and teachers have helped transform many reluctant learners and have equipped educators with powerful tools to dramatically improve individuals' skills. Dr. Mechergui was the first female administrator of the Speech-Language/Learning Disabilities Services at the Saudi Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) School District in Saudi Arabia. She provided services in Abqaiq, Dhahran, and Ras Tanura School district located in the eastern providence in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Mechergui is the current project director for Hawaii's $11.2 million Access to Recovery Project over a four-year funding period. Since 2009, Dr. Mechergui has worked in the Hawaii State's Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse serving over 14,600 youth and adults through the islands of Hawaii. Her areas of expertise include managing and assessing recovery services programs and assessment and development of training programs for substance use disorders practitioners. She has trained on self-esteem building, culture competency, creative interventions for recovery retention, and other health-related issues. While working throughout the United States, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Copenhagen, Denmark, San Juan, Puerto Rico, she has provided individuals with the necessary skills so they could reach their highest potential. She has learned to adapt to a variety of learning situations, colleagues, and others stakeholders in the community in an educational, spiritual climate that promoted cultural diversity and multicultural understanding. She has two daughters and two sons. Her love of writing has lead to complete several written assignments. She has written several children's books, educational curriculum programs, spiritual and magazine articles throughout her career.
