Pakistan Chawk, a roundabout in southern Karachi, is an area developed by technicians and machine operators working at printing presses during the time of Indo-Pak partition. They along with their next generations own printing presses, design shops, cutting, binding setups and image setting systems now.Around ten thousand (approx) printing presses are located in this area. Each press has a minimum of one and a maximum of three software operators, who consider themselves as designers. These software operators/designers facilitate the owner of the press by working at a very low profit margin. The owner then offers the design facility to customers at a very low cost and gets most of his revenue through printing. Pakistan Chawk is oozing with talent and immense potential waiting to be cultivated. The privileged class of Pakistan has to act responsibly to bring this place and the people to their maximum efficiency.
