A successful attempt at dating the rocks using the samarium-neodymium parent-daughter isotopic system applied to whole rock samples of amphibolite, practically the only feasible option then available, provided an age which has been used as a reference for the maximum age of the Paleoproterozoic meta-volcanic rocks. The texts on the West African Craton and the super-continent Columbia (Nuna) are a result of a extensive literature research undertaken by the author.
