The dermatoses grouped under the heading of palisading granulomas are defined by an inflammatory histiocytic granulomatous skin infiltrate of palisading architecture around or in contact with particular alterations in the connective tissue. This group includes mainly: granuloma annulare, necrobiosis lipoidica, rheumatoid nodules and granulomatous interstitial dermatitis. Their diagnosis is based on clinical and histological data, and their association with systemic diseases is frequent and can orientate the therapeutic management and condition the evolution and prognosis of patients suffering from these dermatoses, hence the interest in systematically searching for them.
