The book contains a research study about the need for counselling specialists working in palliative care centres. The stress factors affecting the nurses employed by the palliative care centres are of the same type and even though there are several forms of support or coping strategies used by the specialists, they cannot completely be eliminated; they could only be reduced or prevented, because they pertain to the symptoms particular to the patients' terminal stage, their death and the type of personality of those in charge of them. The burnout occurs further to the chronicization of stress and unavailability of an adaptation strategy adequate to the stressors by the employed personnel. This syndrome is not known by the nurses working in palliative care services. The way it manifests itself, its effects and negative consequences on the employees' health and their activity at work are new elements for which no prevention or decreasing measures are provided.
