Ectopia (heterotopia) of the pancreas is defined as location of pancreatic tissue outside the vascular and anatomical connection with the main pancreas. It occurs in different parts of the gastrointestinal tract, but its morphological peculiarities in localization in the great duodenal papilla are the least studied both in norm and in diseases of the hepatopancreatoduodenal zone. In the monograph the main variants of pancreatic ectopia in the duodenum, its histological and immunohistochemical peculiarities, possible variants of morphogenesis, macro- and microscopic changes of the major duodenal papilla in case of pancreatic ectopia are studied. Clinical and morphological significance of pancreatic ectopia is defined. The monograph is illustrated by 6 tables, 5 diagrams and charts, 29 montage of 103 microphotographs. A rare observation of malignant tumor development from ectopic pancreatic tissue is presented. The book is intended for pathomorphologists, oncologists, abdominal andendoscopic surgeons.
