Autorenporträt
Zhao Ziping is a professional paper cutting artist at the Shanghai Arts and Crafts Research Institute. He began his study there in 1962 as a student of Wang Zigan, a distinguished artist known for his Shanghai-Style paper cutting, and in 2005, Zhao was honored as a "Master of Arts and Crafts" by the Shanghai Municipal Government. Zhao has developed a simple and fluid style with a distinctive touch. A rich imagination and deft designing skills allow him to cut paper directly into two vibrant works, yin and yang, without a preliminary draft. He is quite adept at impromptu performance. Through lectures, performances and exhibitions, Zhao has visited many countries, including the US, France, Germany, Holland, Japan and Norway. Major honors include a solo exhibition at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, and an honorary certificate from Peru's National School of Fine Arts.
