It is one of a number of CDPs in the unincorporated urbanized area directly south of Las Vegas. The population was 186,070 at the 2000 census, and estimated at 196,821 in 2008. As an unincorporated part of Clark County, it is governed by the Clark County Commission. Paradise contains McCarran International Airport, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and most of the Las Vegas Strip, including well-known hotels such as Caesars Palace, the Palms Casino Resort, and the MGM Grand.
