Vector controlled AC Drives are the workhorses in industries for variable speed applications. In industrial applications, the machine parameters undergo fluctuations. The major challenge in the high performance control of AC Drives is to make the resulting system of controller and plant robust against parameter variations and disturbances. The soft computational methods such as Artificial Neural Networks and Fuzzy logic are very powerful tools which can be easily applied to AC Drives for making the system robust. This book addresses the parameter variation issues in Induction Motor Drives starting with the review of existing technologies and proposes new adaptation techniques using Artificial Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic for conditions including speed sensorless control. The techniques discussed in this book could be easily extended to most of the AC Drives used in the industry.
