We consider some distributions that are useful in survival analysis. In the literature on survival analysis, certain parametric models have been used such as exponential and Weibull models. We consider some distributions that are useful in survival analysis. In the literature on survival analysis, certain parametric models have been used such as exponential and Weibull models. Log-normal and gamma distribution are generally less convenient computationally, but are still frequently applied. Here we discuss some of the standard failure time models for homogeneous populations. The properties and the theoretical bases of these distributions are considered briefly. The distributions will be studied in the simplest case of independently and identically distributed random variables. The random variable T denote the lifetime which we are interested in making inferences about.
