This investigated the effects of PTA on students¿ dropout in twelve year basic education schools in Ruhango District Rwanda with specific objectives being (i) to assess the role of PTA in students¿ retention in 12 YBE schools in Ruhango District-Rwanda (ii) to examine the level of students¿ dropout in 12 YBE schools in Ruhango District - Rwanda and; (iii) to establish the correlation between PTA and students¿ dropout in Ruhango District-Rwanda. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. Targeting 43 secondary schools in Ruhango District involving the population of 1105participants;372 PTA members, 604 teachers, and 129 students¿ class representatives from which the sample size of 99 PTA, 161 teaching using simple random sampling technique and 34 students¿ class representatives purposively were drawn. This study provides great significance to the following categories of education stakeholders; the ministry of education, policy makers, students, PTA member, SMCs and development partners of the situation at stake and provides deeper understanding of the significant role of PTAs in schools.
