This book focuses on parental work with parents with a migration background. Problems that arise in the cooperation between school and parents are recorded in a targeted manner. At the beginning, basic terms and the objectives of parental work are explained. Subsequently, forms of parental work are described and then the focus is placed on parents with a migration background. For the empirical study, data was collected from eighteen teachers at Lower Austrian schools using guided interviews. The results show that the main problem with cooperation is the language barrier. Furthermore, a lack of support measures, cultural differences, a lack of knowledge of the school system, a lack of respect for women and a feeling of shame due to ignorance and lack of understanding are the most frequently mentioned problems when working with migrant families.
