Parenting adolescents, particularly if they act out,
is not easy. Parenting acting-out adolescents is
living on the edge. Worries and fears for parents
escalate as hopes for taken-for-granted parenting
diminish. Parents are caught off guard and feel
rudderless in a sea of uncertainty. The printing
press offers many how to books on parenting, but
offers far fewer studies of these parents
experiences as their life unfolds. As a result, there
is insufficient information available for health
professionals to enhance their understanding of
parents in crisis with their adolescents. This book
offers a glimpse into the inner world of parenting on the edge, within a societal realm of guilt and
blame, and presents a hermeneutic interpretation of
the changes occurring in that experience. Both
parents and health professionals will fine useful
insights for a deeper understanding of this journey.
