Parlay is a book I believe many people can relate to. Over the past few years, many people have been dealing with lingering mental health issues, just as I did. I assist others by using my experiences of stress and depression to better their mental health. I open up parts of my life I usually wouldn't share with those that are not close to me. Tyrone Crawford's story is a mix of struggle, unforgiveness, anxiety, passion, faith, fear, love, doubt, reconciliation, and spiritual transformation. The Cleveland, Ohio native is a National Christian Recording Artist, member of the United States Air Force, father, husband, and a mental health advocate. As an artist and mental health advocate, his hit song "Hope" Ft. Darmea, was not only a huge success, but was credited for preventing at least two suicides. Despite Tyrone's current success, he did not always see the light at the end of the tunnel; in fact, he didn't even believe he'd live to see his 21st birthday. Growing up in inner-city Cleveland wasn't easy and came with its challenges, leading Tyrone down a road of self-destruction. However, in a life-altering event, that all changed for him. At the age of 18, his life was forever changed after attending an event at church. In April of 2004, he gave his life to Christ, and prison was no longer in his near future. He was a new man, on a new and better path. A year later, he met his wife, Bridget Crawford, author of the highly recognized book "Redeeming Grace." Together, they have two children, Kyira and Isaiah Crawford. Shortly after meeting his wife, he joined the United States Air Force. Despite graduating high school with a 2.2gpa and enduring a rough childhood with no hope of making it out the hood, he succeeded by the grace of God. He now has 2 Associates degrees, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, and multiple computer certifications. As a Sergeant in the military, he has traveled worldwide to include places such as Afghanistan, Kuwait, Africa, and Honduras, which has given him experience in managing his mental health. He is now a highly decorated Noncommissioned Officer who has mentored thousands on overcoming tough times and improving their mental health.
