Autorenporträt
Kurt Pahlen, geboren 1907 in Wien, Dr. phil. (Musikwissenschaft), war in Buenos Aires Generalmusikdirektor der Filharmònica Metropoitana und Direktor des Teatro Colón sowie an der Universität Montevideo Gründer und Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Musikgeschichte. Als Gastdirigent bedeutender Konzert- und Opernorchester, Gastprofessor vor allem südamerikanischer Universitäten und Verfasser von über 50 in zahlreiche Sprachen übersetzten Büchern mit breit gefächerter Thematik, erwarb er sich einen internationationalen Ruf als Pionier des Musiklebens. Sein besonderes Engagement gilt mit jährlich mehr als 200 Vorträgen der einführenden Vermittlung des Opernrepertoires an ein breites Publikum. 1994 wurde er von der Universität Buenos Aires zum Ehrendoktor ernanernannt.
