Passions flare when amateur sleuthing meets modern policing in this cute Scottish murder mystery! When sassy Edinburgh journalist Amy Thornton infiltrates an environmental activist group, little does she know how quickly she'll scoop a story worthy of the front page. A member of the group, who had moved clandestinely to the city after being stalked by her ex-boyfriend, is found murdered in her home. All indications are it was a crime driven by jealousy, but DI Russell McCord is forced to back down from charging the obvious suspect. His mother is a high-profile lawyer who has a bite that promises to excel her bark, and friends in high places. The activists don't trust the police, and McCord might have to exploit Amy's rapport with the group to get compelling evidence to solve the case. If she can keep her real identity secret, that is. But the detective has other things on his mind. His father is remarrying and he has a best man's speech to write. He is more comfortable with homicide than matters of the heart which, when it comes to Amy, touch on his own. PARTING WORDS is the seventh standalone mystery in this light-hearted mystery series by Traude Ailinger. The full list of books is as follows: 1. NEAR MISS 2. HIGH HAND 3. LAST TRAIN FOR MURDER 4. SHIFTING ICE 5. BRIGHT SPARKS 6. FICKLE FORTUNES 7. PARTING WORDSHinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
After graduating from Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen in 1994 with a degree in Latin and German Language and Literature, which proved rather unhelpful in the job market, Traude Ailinger decided to follow her lifelong affection for all things British and took up residence in Scotland in search of love and adventure. This move resulted in a Diploma in Translation (with distinction in the literature section) from the Chartered Institute of Linguists, London (CIOL) and, in quick succession, three children. After being a housewife for several years, Traude had murder on her mind and wrote her first mystery novel Flammenschatten, which was published in 2015 by the respected German Gmeiner Verlag. Meanwhile, she continued to work as Teacher of EAL (English as an Additional Language) at Strathallan School in Perthshire. Having lived longer in Scotland than in Germany, it felt right to write a mystery novel in English, set in atmospheric Edinburgh. Thus, NEAR MISS was created, soon to be followed by more adventures of journalist Amy Thornton and DI Russell McCord.
