Set over five days of late summer, Paths Not Yet Taken is 340 intriguing, thought-provoking pages of crises, action and emotion, punctuated by wry humour and the occasional laugh. It's a satirical drama - total fiction, but only a stone's throw or a pitching wedge from actually happening. A contemporary novel where the actions and inactions of the main characters offers hope to all of us... eventually. A ministerial visit to a Midlands food distribution centre goes badly wrong. A senior figure vanishes without trace. The nationwide search for the missing person and the potential abductors creates huge issues for government, the security services, a local police force, and for one man who inadvertently ends up at the centre of things. Just where he's dreamt of being... and now wishes he wasn't. If you like drink, dogs, golf or guns, this book definitely has plenty for you. If you don't, then there's always the ongoing chaos, the political shenanigans, the love stories and the drama to keep you occupied. Ultimately, one spur-of-the-moment decision is the catalyst for others - including the reader - to reflect on their own lives and to consider decisive actions of their own. Just try not to think about the sausage. Paths Not Yet Taken - winner of the Literary Titan Gold Book Award for Fiction.

Autorenporträt
Award-winning author Philip Rennett currently lives in Buckinghamshire with his wife Clare, one dog and a cat. Work started in the Middle East as public relations officer for a police force. Experiences included crash-landing in a plane whose pilots forgot to lower the undercarriage; flying in another plane with a dead body knocking against his leg; and gate-crashing a reception at the Sultan's palace where he bumped into the UK prime minister and the Sultan. In an unrelated incident, he spent a couple of uncomfortable minutes sitting in his Volkswagen Beetle while three very angry soldiers pointed guns at his head. Opting for a quieter life, he returned to the UK and worked in newspaper advertising before starting his own PR consultancy, which he ran for thirty years. Deciding he'd had enough of writing on behalf of employers and clients, he retired and now writes for himself. A keen if mediocre sportsman, he took up golf after his right knee decided it didn't want to take part in more physical sports any longer. Missing the thrills of his early career, he also goes storm chasing occasionally in Tornado Alley.
