Paul Buka, MSc, PGCE, LLB (Hons) Law, HNC, RGN, RNT, FHEA, MIHSCM, Member of the Institute of Medical Ethics, is a visiting lecturer at the University of Essex. He specialises in Healthcare Law and Ethics, with several publications (since 1999) and a 3rd edition book in 2020 to his name. He trained as a Registered General Nurse in Scotland, specialising in Trauma and Orthopaedics nursing, with many years of varied clinical experience. He read law, at HNC, degree and master's levels, specialising in Criminal Justice, Human Rights, Clinical Negligence and Mental Health Law, and has working knowledge and experience of Health and Safety law as a (Union) health and safety representative in Clinical Practice and HE. He gained 24 years of experience in Further Education and Higher Education as a former Programme Lead (senior lecturer). He served as a lay member for the Department of Health Regional Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards (ACCEA) for seven years.
