Bedside clinical teaching lies in the heart of medical education. This setting and the experiences gained from contact with patients provide students and trainees with an opportunity to learn several clinical skills, such as history taking, physical examination, clinical reasoning, decision making, communication and professionalism, and initiate the development of a future doctor-patient relationship. This approach requires considerable enthusiasm and commitment on the part of both - the teacher and learner, and willingness to cooperate on the part of patient who plays a crucial role in this educational method. The objective of this study was assessment of patients' attitudes and their receptiveness towards the presence of undergraduate medical students during consultation with their doctors, and to investigate factors which may influence those attitudes, mainly patients' characteristics & clinical setting.
