The overall purpose of the present study was to find out the relation of patriarchy and conservatism with domestic violence. This book is based on a study conducted in Islamabad, Pakistan. An attempt was made to determine the magnitude and types of domestic violence endured by women and to get the women's perspective and pervasiveness of domestic violence. Opinions of women in Islamabad were asked to get primary information. Multistage systematic random sampling technique was used to draw sample. The sample size was 162 married women of three different socio-economic class (upper, middle, lower) through an interviewing schedule. Violence against women is a universal phenomenon and worldwide social problem. It is important to consider the various forms of violence in broader terms to understand the intrinsic threat that layers the fabric of society. Findings reveal that domestic violence is the most common form of violence against women. It reflects on the plight of billion of women trapped in cultural and social quagmires around the globe.
