The book brings back to attention the rich body of scholarly work dedicated to the study of political elites in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s that is nowadays almost forgotten. This pioneering work has opened the field to similar and more complex studies of political elites in Romania. This study was hailed by internationally-renowned specialists such as Vladimir Tismaneanu, Heinrich Best and Zdenka Mansfeldova.
