Joan Russinovich is the author and illustrator for all her works and has been drawing since 2004. Her first published children's book, Friendly Monster, was released in early 2021. Since creating Friendly Monster, she has actively been adding books to her repertoire. She considers herself a native of Columbus, Ohio, even though she had travelled the world to get there. She was born in Spain and spent her childhood years in Birmingham, Alabama. Then, she travelled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for high school.
