Autorenporträt
Heather Crichlow is an immigrant to Canada herself: she arrived in 1982 and brought her son over in 1983. This story is his, in some ways, and the story of other immigrants she's known-children she's taught over her career, family from the Caribbean, and friends from Canada. Children, she believes, often know little about their parents' and grandparents' lives. She wants that to be different for her granddaughter, and that's how this story came about. Heather lives with her husband in Regina, Saskatchewan, near to her son Gary and his family, and near to the uncle who sponsored her immigration to Canada.
