Founded in 1967, the group mixes elements of classical music, jazz, and world musics, as well as the sounds of animals and nature. Current members also include cellist Eugene Friesen, pianist Paul Sullivan, percussionists Jamey Haddad, Satoshi Takeishi and Cafe daSilva, vocalist Theresa Thomason, and bassist Eliot Wadopian. Former members include woodwind player Paul McCandless, cellists David Darling and Richard Bock, percussionist Guilherme Franco and guitarists Ralph Towner and Jim Scott, bassist Glen Moore and sitarist Collin Walcott. McCandless, Towner, Moore, and Walcott left the band to form Oregon.
