The present research, whose object of study is the verification, through a research protocol applied to sixty-six pedagogical coordinators acting in municipal schools of twelve municipalities, belonging to the geographical region of Ribeirão Preto, SP - on the role of the Pedagogical Coordinator, in relation to the process of in-service continuing education of teachers, considering the democratic prerogatives and autonomy of the school. Having as specific objectives to investigate how this professional acts in the organization and implementation of the processes of continuous training, developed, especially, in the Collective Pedagogical Work Hours - CPTWs, as well as the difficulties encountered, the way the themes are defined and the guidelines of these meetings are elaborated, In the search for the formative process, the methodological path of the research considered descriptive and exploratory studies, in order to understand the reality of the Pedagogical Coordination performance in the schools defined for the field research, in relation to its regimental and practical-theoretical role.
