The present study is a theoretical and empirical analysis of the relevance of holistic approach to modern-day primary education and life as such. The study, which draws on a wide range of research in social science, aimed to appraise primary education teachers' views on the viability of holistic approach to primary education in Latvian primary schools and to integrate relevant insights from different disciplines and contexts about holism, holistic education and holistic approach. Pedagogical and psychological issues are discussed, which contribute to successful acquisition of musical cultural values. The study explores the essence and principles of holistic approach to facilitating acquisition of musical cultural values. During the course of the study, a theoretically and empirically grounded model of holistic approach to primary education is created and recommendations proposed to primary education teachers regarding the application of holistic approach to facilitating acquisition of musical cultural values in primary school.
