In children, burns are frequent injuries caused by contact and/or exposure to heated substances such as gases, solids and liquids, injury from electricity, injury from chemical agents or radiation. Disruption of the skin's integrity can result in a cascade of events that culminates in the deposition of a collagen-rich matrix, i.e. sequelae.
