Nalin Gupta, MD, PhD is Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of California San Francisco, and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. Dr. Gupta received his MD from the University of Toronto, and his PhD in biophysics at UCSF. He completed his neurosurgery training at the University of Toronto and a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, also in Toronto, Canada. His current research interests include the role of inflammatory cytokines in the progression of brain tumors, and fetal surgery for congenital spine disorders. He leads a number of translational surgical clinical trials evaluating new therapies for brainstem tumors, and congenital disorders of metabolism. Daphne A. Haas-Kogan, MD, is chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Boston Children's Hospital, Boston, USA. She is a Professor ofRadiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Haas-Kogan gained her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology magna cum laude from Harvard University. She received her MD from the University of California, San Francisco and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After completing a residency in Radiation Oncology and post-doctoral fellowship in Molecular Neuro-oncology at UCSF, she remained there as a tenure track faculty member with joint appointments in Radiation Oncology and Neurological Surgery, becoming Vice-Chair for Research in 2003 and Educational Program Director in 2008. Dr. Haas-Kogan has been selected as one of the top physicians in the United States by various publications. She continues to lead and perform laboratory research, design clinical trials, establish robust collaborations with neuro-pathologists, neuro-oncologists, and neuro-radiologists, and develop a thriving clinical practice in radiation oncology.
