Pedro Zárraga Barreto, Venezuelan singer-songwriter, was born in Yaracuy on February 4, 1933, and died in Barquisimeto, Lara state, in 1998. He composed numerous songs, within different genres of Venezuelan music. His greatest successes were for his song "Pipiriguá", "golpe tocuyano", and the waltz "Lindo Yurubí". He was a master in the teaching of the guitar, establishing his own teaching method. He also developed an important work in the diffusion of Venezuelan music, not only as a singer, but also through his radio program "Las Estrellitas Infantiles y Juveniles de Pedro Zárraga Barreto", with which he received several awards and recognitions for promoting youth talent and cultivating in children and young people, the rooting for cultural traditions, as well as motivating them to sing Venezuelan music genres. Undoubtedly, he left a valuable legacy as a contribution to the Latin American identity.
