Peni Taufa'ao (born November 2, 1980 on Vava'u) is a Tongan former rugby union player and current mixed martial artist rising in Hawaii's bantamweight rankings. He is a member of a Tongan royal family.In 2005 Peni started kickboxing, and then turned to mixed martial arts. In 2006 he made his professional debut against Isaiah Cobb-Adams. Knowing hardly any jiu-jitsu he won the fight by guillotine choke in the second round. Despite speaking very little if any English and lacking a translator, he began to acquire a fan base. Fans would come up to him to take photos and he would just smile and laugh.
