The Pennsylvania Law Tennis Championship was a tennis tournament played at the Merion Cricket Club in Haverford, Pennsylvania. The first edition was held in 1894. The event was part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit from 1970-1974, before which it was an amateur event. It was held on outdoor hard courts from 1970-72 and grass courts from 1973-1974. Tennis is a sport usually played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a racket that is strung to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society at all ages.
