Autorenporträt
Anna Masterton Buchan (1877-1948) was born to a Scottish reverend and his bride. Before her had come a boy, who was to be the famous novelist and statesman John Buchan. Though she enjoyed quieter fame than her older brother, Anna grew up to be a gifted writer as well. Anna Buchan published her first novel in 1912 under the pen name O. Douglas, a pseudonym she maintained for most of her life. Many of her novels are set in the landscape of her own life, the Scottish Borders. In an age when melodrama and sensation were ruling the literary world, Anna Buchan chose to relish and record the sweetly simple ways of ordinary, interesting people.
