This is no mere book about fonts--it's a book about how to use them. Typography is a tool that can be used to give language a physical body, to give content a concrete form, and let messages flow from person to person. This is no mere book about fonts--it's a book about how to use them. Typography is a tool that can be used to give language a physical body, to give content a concrete form, and let messages flow from person to person. This book is for readers and writers, designers and editors, and professors and students who work with the written word. From the rigidity of movable type in metal or wood to the flexibility of digital media, text has evolved from a closed-off, stable concept to an open and fluid ecosystem in which elements can be adjusted in infinite ways. Thinking with Type touches on the cultural and theoretical questions that underlie typographical design.
